Integrating a real-time data storage solution with an existing plant infrastructure (Part 1)

28 November 2024

A global mining company sought to enhance efficiency, reduce energy use, and improve product quality in platinum processing. To optimise their Advanced Process Control (APC) techniques, they required a high-resolution, short-duration data logging solution, independent of the enterprise level plant historian that may or may not be deployed at a particular location.

IDX’s Nexus Historian provided the ideal solution, offering lightweight, high-performance time-series data storage. Its structure, based on Structured Query Language (SQL), advanced data partitioning, and compression techniques ensured seamless integration, efficient data logging, and easy accessibility for control engineers.

In this case study, discover how the IDX Nexus Historian became a critical tool for real-time data optimisation, supporting the company’s drive for sustained process excellence.

Look out for Part 2, where we explore how the IDX Nexus Framework addressed challenges in integrating real-time data, tackling unreliable Open Platform Communications Data Access (OPC DA) servers, and enabling seamless connectivity with their G2 expert system and industrial control layers.
