Today was the last Procentec training day for 2015 and we have a packed class of 10 attendees from companies such Sick Automation, Columbus Stainless and Xaloo Technologies. There is no charge for the training, but it is recommended that one has done the certified PROFIBUS Installer Course or is already experienced with PROFIBUS.
The course is broken into three main sections:
1) PROFIBUS network components
2) Troubleshooting with ProfiTrace
3) Preemptive maintenance with COMbricks
PROFIBUS network components are really about the cool stuff that system integrators and end-users of PROFIBUS don’t know about. How to correctly wire a repeater (a common problem we find when doing callouts), using multi-channel repeaters (ProfiHub), when to use active terminators and running segments at different baud rates with ProfiSwitch are all part of the section. Learn to design your networks in a more robust manner using ProfiHubs!
Troubleshooting with ProfiTrace starts with initialising the ProfiTrace software (licensing, etc), and then the attendees quickly dive into setting up their own PROFIBUS network with ProfiCaptain. Learning what happens when loading the wrong GSD file or module configuration is all part of the fun. Different scope waveforms and the faults that cause them are also covered.
Our philosophy is that if you know how to break, then you’ll know how to fix it! Preemptive maintenance with COMbricks covers the new way of running your plant. How to identify errors before they cause trips or network failures is what this section is all about.
Attendees see examples of possible network layouts, segmentation and redundancy. This ends with a practical showing of how easy it is to view your network condition remotely and on devices such as your smartphone or tablet.
Watch out for next year’s schedule if you want to attend this free course!
